I’ve got my first version of the database script uploaded into the test area, with a few tables, some data inserts for two elections, and a couple of views. The only hitch was that dreamhost had case sensititvity turned on, so my inserts didn’t work right off. If they had, I would have considered it a home run on my first time up at bat!

I’ve been using the TOAD tools distributed by Quest, including a 30 day trial of the Data Modeler and some other very useful free tools they distribute. I got very familiar with a more robust Quest data modeler (QDesigner) in an earlier life, but they apparently don’t sell it anymore. Some of the TOAD tools run very slowly on this machine (a two year old Dell Latitide), but I’m migrating to a faster box running Vista. It should help make the experience relatively more pleasant, but someday I’ll come to my senses and join the MAC world.
